“The facts speak for themselves: tax reform is lowering the tax rate for all North Carolinians, making North Carolina more economically competitive, and encouraging job creation,” explained John Dudley, NC State Director of Americans for Prosperity Foundation. “Our statewide educational effort will help citizens understand how our state is benefiting from the tax reforms passed last year by Governor McCrory and the General Assembly. We look forward to having conversations with taxpayers across the state about the policies that are making our state a better place to live, work, and raise a family.”

The benefits of tax reform cited by Americans for Prosperity became evident within a year of the legislation passing. This year the American Legislative Exchange Council announced that North Carolina would move from 44th to 17th in its annual rankings of state economic competitiveness, once the reforms are fully implemented (2017). This month CEO Magazine announced that North Carolina now has the 4th most business friendly economy in the nation. In the month of March North Carolina reported the second highest job creation in the nation and has continually reported a lower unemployment rate for the past few months.

Dudley continued: “North Carolina is moving in the right direction, and it’s thanks to the tax and budget reforms passed last year. Fiscal responsibility and a lower, flat tax code are improving the economic well-being of all North Carolinians.”
